OBITUARY ON WILLIAM AUGUSTIN
William A. Augustin, age 81, of 2206 Brookmeade Dr., died on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on March 22, 1927 in Quincy, the son of Edward R. & Emma (Blersch) Augustin. He married Margie Herold on October 15, 1949 in St. Francis Catholic Church. She survives. Mr. Augustin was an engineer for KHQA TV for 39 years until his retirement. Mr. Augustin served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish. He was also a member of the Elks and the Western Illinois Fly-Tiers. Mr. Augustin greatly enjoyed fishing, camping and card playing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
THREE DAUGHTERS: Judy Middendorf and her husband Steve of Quincy; Janet Kaiser and her husband Stuart of Quincy; and Jean Brod and her husband Brian also of Quincy.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Kerry Cornelius and her husband J.K.; Scott Middendorf and his wife Angela; Tana Schutte; Nikki McDonald and her husband Aaron; Brandon Brod and Brent Brod.
FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kaylan Cornelius; Trevor Schutte, Taryn Schutte and Tanner Sparks.
Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson Marc Middendorf.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery by American Legion Post #37. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a Parish Prayer service at 4:00. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish or to the Quincy Catholic Charities.
