Wayne Albert Schuster

Wayne Albert Schuster age 90, of Quincy died on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Blessing Hospital. Wayne was born in St. Louis, MO on August 15, 1932, a son of Albert and Florence (Meyer) Schuster.

He married Antonia (Janosky) on January 17, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL and she preceded him in death June 29, 2018.

Wayne was employed by Quincy School District #172, for Quincy School Transportation for which he was a school bus driver (Bus 44) from 1977 until his retirement in 2004.

He attended Farragut Elementary School in St. Louis, MO and was a graduate of Beaumont High School in St. Louis. Wayne served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War between 1952-1954.
Wayne was a member of the Quincy Stamp Club and was a distributor of Shaklee Vitamins. Having worked in logistics for the railroads, he was fascinated by maps and everything to do with trains and rail transportation. He was interested in astronomy, loved movies, especially WWII productions, and 1980’s rock music. He was a fan of Abba, Toto, Laura Branigan, and his favorite song was Neil Diamond’s, “Sweet Caroline”.
His favorite times were when all his family was together.

Survivors include his children:
Nancy Turner and her husband Rick of Quincy; Patricia Strubel of Wentzville, MO; Joyce McKay of Chatham, I; Karen Schuster of Machesney Park, IL; Joseph Schuster,Denise(Tim) Spencer and her husband Tim all of Quincy.
Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Rizzo of O’Fallon, MO and nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his wife Antonia, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Janice Wetzel.

Services will be Wednesday at 12 Noon at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Greenmount Cemetery with military honors.

    Very sorry for your loss. Wayne was such a great guy. I remember his greetings of “Hi Guy” every time we saw him.
