Wanda L. Derhake

Wanda L. Derhake, age 83, of the Illinois Veterans Home, died on July 12, 2011 in the home. She was born November 11, 1927 in Quincy, a daughter of Clarence & Leona (Price) Herold. She married Lawrence A. “Red” Derhake on June 21, 1947 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2008.

Wanda was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. Her life was primarily spent as a homemaker although she did do some clerical work at Gardner Denver. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Wanda enjoyed camping, bowling, crocheting and the St. Louis Cardinals. She loved playing tennis and had won the City Championship. She also enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and had a special love for babies.

She is survived by FIVE CHILDREN, Dave Derhake and his wife Nancy of Naperville, IL, Dan Derhake and his wife Vickie of Quincy, John Derhake and his wife Jane of Quincy, Jerry Derhake and his wife Twila of Quincy, and Lori Danforth and her husband Dennis of Maywood, MO;
NINETEEN GRANDCHILDREN, Dr. Adam Derhake and his wife Karina; Adria Stapleton and her husband Jake; David Wolfe and his wife Laura; Mike Wolfe; Steve Wolfe and his wife Michel; Lisa Daggett and her husband Kent; Christina Steffen and her fiance Vance Wilson, Stephanie Cress and her husband Mark; Amanda Marie Derhake; Diana Mast and her husband John; Benjamin Derhake; Theodore Derhake and his wife Audreana; Joshua Yancey and his wife Lindsey; Jessica Beaver and her husband Josh; Allison Yancey and her fiance Jordan Stout; Darcy Danforth, Derek Danforth; Katie Danforth and Kellie Danforth;
TWO SISTERS, Nancy (John) McGann of Princeville, IL and Margie Augustin of Quincy; and ONE BROTHER-IN-LAW, James Mast of Quincy.
Numerous Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband and parents, Wanda was preceded in death by a daughter Ellen Yancey and son-in-law, Marvin Yancey.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 15, 2011 at 8:30 A.M. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 9:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veteran’s Home. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veteran’s Home Benefits Fund.
