Walter E. “Gene” Meyers age 76, of Quincy died on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in his home. Gene was born in Quincy on May 1, 1945, the son of Johnnie W. and Vivian J. (Bowman) Meyers. He married Patricia Diane “Pat” Woosley on September 19, 1963. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2014.

Prior to his retirement, Gene worked at Quincy Polymers.

He truly loved his pet dog “Missy” who he happily spoiled.

Survivors include three children, Ronnie Meyers and his wife Lisa of Payson, IL; Tina Woodworth and her husband Alan of Fowler, IL; and Johnnie Meyers of Kansas. Six grandchildren: Ryan Meyers, Cobi Meyers, Allison Woodworth, Adam Coats, Ashely Meyers, and Alex Meyers; six great-grandchildren, Kylie Meyers, Hadley Davis, Isaiah and Isabella Newble; Italia and Landis Meyers. A niece Rechell Doyle of Fowler, and cousins Bob McCarthy of Des Moines, IA and Ann Hardin of Quincy also survive.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat, and his brother-and-sister-in-law, Bruce and Charlotte Woosley.

Private family services are planned. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
