Virginia F. Meyer, age 89, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Camp Point, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 22, 2013 in the Home. She was born on May 21, 1923 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Clemens and Clara (Obert) Frericks. She married Leonard Meyer on June 10, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2013. Virginia graduated from 8th grade at St. Michael School. She worked for St. Mary’s Hospital in the laundry department and was a housekeeper for various people. She was a lifetime homemaker. Virginia was an avid quilter and enjoyed making them for family and church. She also loved her flowers and always had a beautiful yard. She was a member of St. Thomas Church and the Altar and Rosary Society at the church.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Seven brothers: George, Joseph, Fred, John, Matthias, Anthony and Eugene Frericks, 3 sisters: Agnes Frericks, Sr. Mary Catherine and Sr. Mary Andrea and a son-in-law: Steve Schulze.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point, IL. Interment in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice, St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point, or the Alzheimer’s Unit at the Good Samaritan Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
