Virginia Christine (Erickson) Gray Corcoran

Virginia Christine (Erickson) Gray Corcoran age 92, of Sunset Home, formerly of Palmyra, MO died on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 6:45 p.m. in the home. She was born November 22, 1923 in Hannibal, MO a daughter of Joseph & Verada (Tynes) Erickson. She married William Corcoran on September 17, 1975, in the Palmyra United Methodist Church and he died March 12, 2006.

Virginia had previously worked as a Book-keeper for Palmyra area businesses, the Hinds Veterinary Clinic and the Palmyra Livestock Auction House. She was a graduate of Hannibal High School.

Virginia was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Quincy. She was a sweet and kind person, who liked to do needlepoint and quilting. She and her husband William loved to attend horse races together.

Survivors include her children, Kristina (Philip) Mast of Quincy; and Harry Eugene Gray of Hannibal; a step-daughter, Linda Howald of Hannibal, MO;

Grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Mast of Clayton, IL; Scott Mast of Quincy; Elizabeth (Michael) Eskra of Taylor Springs, IL; Travis (Theresa) Gray of Troy, Mo; Dustin (Jennifer) Gray of Palmyra, MO; Amber, Eric and Brittany Gray; Great-Grandchildren, Madison Zimmerman; Gage and Gavin Mast; Jaykin Foster; Peyton Mast; Raelynn Eskra;; Joel Gray; Dalton and Jacob Gray; Aliyah Gray.

One sister, Betty Hinds and nieces and nephews also survive.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband a sister, Marjorie Middendorf and a brother Joseph Erickson.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Union United Methodist Church. There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to the memorial services.Memorials are suggested to Union United Methodist Church or to the Adams County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Funeral arrangements are with the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
