Virgil Rome Vonderheide, age 64, of 1730 Kent Drive, died on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 7:00 PM in his home. He was born on July 15, 1944 in Quincy, IL the son of Rome & Agnes (Peters) Vonderheide. He married Patricia Kaiser on August 10, 1963 in St. Francis Church in Quincy. She survives. Mr. Vonderheide was the owner and operator of Lawn Solutions Inc. for many years, having started Quincy Landscaping in 1977. He and his wife purchased Lawn Solutions in 1985 and they have grown the business to serve the entire Tri-State area. Virgil retired in January of 2009. Mr. Vonderheide was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and had been a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Virgil enjoyed traveling and time spent in Jamaica Bay, Ft. Myers, FL, bicycling with his friends, and walking the beach. Virgil greatly loved his family, sons and grandkids.

In addition to his wife he is survived by:
THREE SONS: Richard Vonderheide and his friend Dennis Wechsler of Havertown, PA; Randy Vonderheide and his wife Heather of Quincy and Dan Vonderheide and his wife Holly also of Quincy;
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Ben, Mitchell, Andrew, Caleb, and Joseph Vonderheide;
THREE BROTHERS: Roy Vonderheide and his wife Joan, Ferdie Vonderheide and his wife Carolyn, and Norbert Vonderheide;
ONE SISTER: Margie Mast.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:30 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church by Father John Kennedy and Father John Carberry. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home, with a Prayer service at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center.
