Virgil R. Altrogge

Virgil R. Altrogge, age 87, of 4014 Payson Road, Quincy, died on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 8:45 p.m. in his home. He was born on November 15, 1920 in Quincy, Illinois. He was a son of John & Eleanor Kroner Altrogge. He married May Wolf on June 12, 1946. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1972.

He was a member of the Church of St. Peter.

Virgil was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Eagles Club, and he loved to dance and golf.

He is survived by :
TWO CHILDREN: Dennis Altrogge of Mt. View, CA; and Linda Ohnemus of Quincy;
TWO GRANDCHILDREN: Mark Ohnemus and his wife Lana of Quincy & Melissa Moore and her husband Todd of Delray Beach, FL;
THREE Great grandchildren, TWO Step-great grandchildren and
numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his wife, Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elmer & Raymond Altrogge, and three sisters, Virginia Arns, Millie Beckman, & Helen Ellerbrake.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 10:00 at the Church of St. Peter by Father Daniel Bergbower. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter. Memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Missy,
    Sorry to hear that your Grandpa passed on. I know you will miss him. I hope that you were able
    to make it up here to Quincy for the service. I hope everything is going well for you in FL. I can see why you moved down there. It is beautiful. We spent some time down there the last 2 winters, as Bob is now retired. I would love to move there.

    I’ll always remember the good times I had @your home & all the dances, especially @our home. You’ll be in our thoughs & prayers. So glad I was able to be there Saturday.
