OBITUARY FOR VIRGIL ANDREW BARRY

Virgil Andrew Barry, age 85, of the North Adams Home in Mendon, formerly of the Quincy and Liberty area, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 in Blessing Hospital. Virgil was born on February 25, 1923 in Adams County, the son of Andrew & Clara (Ohnemus) Barry. He married Frances E. Runser on April 12, 1947 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Quincy. Mr. Barry was in the United States Army during WWII and served in France and Germany. Virgil received the Purple Heart and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was employed by the Electric Wheel for 26 years and farmed in the Liberty area for nearly 40 years. He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

FIVE CHILDREN: Dennis Barry and his wife Marcia of Liberty, Michael Barry and his wife Janice of Fowler, Linda Elbus and her husband Carl of Fowler, Kathleen Bracy and her husband Gary of Quincy and Cynthia Moss and her husband Daniel of Fowler.
FIFTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Derrick Elbus and his wife Lisa; Dr. Keisha Elbus; Nathan Elbus and his wife Kelsea; Kirk Barry; Kory Barry and his wife Caron; Kristen Brink and her husband Monte; Kaylan Barry; Jason barry and his wife Anita; Dawn Davis and her husband Matthew; Chad Barry and his wife Sarah; Brittany and Brooke Bracy; Danielle; Dalton and Daphne Moss.
SEVEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN;
THREE BROTHERS: William Barry and his wife Iona of Quincy; Kenneth Barry and his wife Imogene of Liberty and George Barry and his wife Marilyn also of Liberty.
TWO SISTERS: Bernice Mowen and her husband Robert of Liberty and Carlene Barry of Quincy;
TWO SISTERS-IN-LAW: Patricia Barry of Liberty; Charlotte Barry of Quincy
Numerous nieces nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul, Thomas and Vincent Barry and a grandchild Kryshelle Elbus.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Payson V. F. W. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church. www.dukerandhaugh.com
