Vicky Lynn Smith
Vicky Lynn (Ely) Smith, age 67, of Quincy, entered into rest on Monday, August 23, 2022 in the Franciscan Health, Olympia Fields IL. She was born on May 26, 1955 in Quincy the daughter of James Ely and Deloris (Brace) Ely.
Vicky was a member of Pastor Salter’s Light of Joy Church in LaBelle, MO, which she never missed a chance to attend with her faithful friend, Ms. Arkansas Milsap (Ms. Martha). Together they were a spunky delight to the congregation with their shenanigans!
Vicky attended Riverside Elementary, graduating from Quincy Senior High School where her brother, Cornell (Poot Nannie) Ely was the fiercest mascot the Blue Devils have had so far!
Vicky retired to Quincy from Salina, KS where she was a dietician at Kansas State University.
Enjoying nothing more that traveling, gossiping, camping, getting lost with and even has been known to “twirk” with her best and dearest friends, Linda Steele-Smith, Cheryl Fletcher, Cora Wortham, Lisa Countryman, Daphne Knaff and Rhonda Bullock.
She is survived by: THREE CHILDREN: Eugeana Grant (Garland) of Boston, MA; Donitta Betts (William) of Quincy and Raychell Allison also of Quincy. GRANDCHILDREN: Tiara, Whitney, Miles, Grant, Quayson “Noah”, Allison-Baumgart, Tra, Terris, Connor, Quayson, Joseph (JoJo Bean), LaRaya, Dorinda and Robert “Robbi” Allsion. SIBLINGS: James Ely, Jr., Clifton Ely (Natalie Lewis), Susan Clay (Arthur, Sr.) and Christopher Ely.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents, James Ely and Delores Brace Ely, a brother: Cornell Ely and 2 grandchildren: ShyQuayciar “Shy” Davis and Miqueen Allison.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Riverview Park, 2nd & Chestnut St., Quincy, IL. Feel free to share a “Vicky Lynn” story while enjoying appetizers and a “beverage”! Memorials may be made to the family in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
