Veronica A. Tomczak

Veronica A. Tomczak, age 92, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 6:10 p.m. in the Home. She was born February 21, 1922 in Wyandotte, MI, a daughter of Jacob & Veronica (Frank) Millesz. She married Raymond Tomczak on May 16, 1942, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2004.
Veronica was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Denby High School in Detroit, MI.
She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Veronica was active during her time at the Veteran’s Home and had volunteered as a Sunset Lady, she lectured at mass and participated with the Veteran’s Voices singing group. She loved to read, especially the newspaper. She was also a good cook and enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Tomczak of Quincy; a nephew George Faust and his wife Elizabeth and a niece Marianne Faust all of Michigan; great nieces, Heather (Jonathan) Scharret of Michigan and Beth (John) McIntyre of Connecticut.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Mary Faust and her husband George and a brother, Joseph Millesz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veteran’s Home by Rev. Donald Blickhan. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at All Faith’s Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Illinois Veteran’s Home Activities Fund.     Veronica was such a lovely lady. My mother use to do her hair at the vets home & Veronica always giggled and she just loved me!
    Her family is in my prayers. Fly high Veronica! I love you & we will miss you dearly. <3
