Sending prayers and condolences to this amazing mans family! My thoughts and prayers are with you all
What can I say about V….such a priceless, humble, and all around amazing person. I’m truly blessed to have known him and to be able to call him my friend. If it wasnt at his work, Casey’s, he would come see me at mine, Haymaker’s in West Quincy where he would say to me most times GIRL, IVE MISSED YOU, SEEMS LIKE AN ETERNITY SINCE IVE LAID EYES ON YA, then he would give his lil laugh, mind you we just saw each other the day before. But if I was down he would always find some way to make me smile! We had some deep conversations that made us both look at things differently and we both educated each other on some topics! Unfortunately I didnt get to know him until the last few years but I’m truly a better person for knowing him. I’m very saddened by his passing, I refuse to stay that way as it’s not something he would want from us, he would want us all to be happy and talk of times spent together and memories that we will cherish! His smile was infectious!
    Rest Easy my friend
    Until we meet again
    Much Love
    Nikki & James Casey

My husband and I send our love and prayers to Vernon’s family and friends. We both came to know Vernon from his job at Casey’s where he won the hearts and laughter of many a person. Vernon graciously attended our wedding last October and was simply just as kind, caring and enthusiastic as anyone could be for us to come together! Everyone at Casey’s saw a picture of my wedding dress by the next day and there’s Vernon, smiling and hugging me in happiness. He spent a few nights talking to my husband for hours on end about life and everything in between, as my husbands office is right next to where Vernon lived. He was one of the most kind, authentic and animated people I have ever met. Last Thanksgiving Vernon accepted our invitation to join my family and friends in a Thanksgiving meal that lasts all day. He stopped by after getting off of work late and we loaded him up with food for days. The next time I saw him at work he hugged me and with tears in his eyes said he appreciated our friendship and kindness, but most of all, the collard greens we spent two days making. LOL He said they were the closest to his mothers greens that he had ever eaten and that it brought him memories of her. This guy! He had me in tears! I was very saddened to hear that our sweet friend had passed away this week. He will Always be remembered by my family and I as a wounded but loving soul who gave more than he had. We love and miss you Vernon. RIP friend.
