Verna L. Sparks, age 91, of the St. Vincent Home, formerly of 1233 North 11th, died on Friday, July 28, 2017 in the Home. She was born on November 30, 1925 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Joseph and Flossie (Davis) Mason. She married Howard A. Sparks. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1980.

Verna is survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: Linda Bowen, Regina Sparks and Joan Tucker all of Quincy; Steve Sparks and his wife Rose of Ewing, MO and Rodney Sparks also of Quincy.
FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Lori Burdette, Clarence Finley, Shane Finley and Linda Forbes.
ONE SISTER: Mary Jane Lotte
Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Verna was preceded in death by 2 sons: Robert Sparks and Eddie Dean Sparks; a granddaughter: Joan Blanchett; Four sisters: Nellie Gille, Helen Bowman, Garnet McCune, Dorothy Gilpin, and a brother: Lester Mason.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM in Greenmount Cemetery. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. Memorials may be made to the family. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
