Vera M. Zanger

Vera M. Zanger, age 81, of 1853 N. 1400th Ave., Quincy, died on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:21 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Vera was born August 3, 1929 in Hancock County, IL, a daughter of George and Mabel (Wemhoner) Kammerer. She married Norbert E. Zanger on September 1, 1951 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1999.

Vera was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and watching the birds. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her nine children: Gary (Anita) Zanger of Payson, Kent (Vicky) Zanger of Liberty, Marcia Doughan (Dan Mart) of Eugene, OR, Connie (Rocky) Boling, Theresa (Rick) Breneman, Judy (Rob) Davis all of Camp Point, Sandra (John) Toumbs of Mt. Sterling, Krista (Greg) White and Lloyd (Michele) Zanger all of Quincy.

10 grandchildren: Brent (Joy) Zanger and Andrew Zanger all of Payson; Melanie Hicks, Ewing, MO; Todd (Jessica) Zanger, Jessica (Casey) Brunenn, Courtney Zanger all of Quincy; , Alysa Breneman, Ciara Breneman, Miranda Davis and Madeline Davis all of Camp Point.

Step-Grandchildren: Michael White, Winston Salem, NC; Mandy (Rich) Riggs, Peosta, IA; Chad (Jennifer) White, Peachtree City, GA; Reece Dieker of Quincy; Ashley (Justin) Lambert of Citrus Heights, CA; Jared (April) Mart of Creswell, OR and Tyler (Carrie) Mart of Eugene, OR.

Seventeen great-grandchildren

A Brother, Kenneth (Jean) Kammerer of Quincy;

A Brother-In-Law, Leo V. (Ruth) Zanger of Quincy and numerous nieces & nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband, Norbert, and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Goehl and Elma Kammerer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with celebrant Rev. Jeff Stone. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to Donor’s Choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
