Tony G. Marksteiner

Tony G. Marksteiner, age 92, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 2089 North 400th Ave., Liberty, died on Tuesday, September, 27, 2011in the Home. He was born on March 10, 1919 in Bloomington, IL a son of Anthony and Barbara (Teiber) Marksteiner.

Tony was a farmer in the rural Liberty. He served in the Army as a sergeant during WWII in the Philippines. He was of the catholic faith. Tony was a member of the American Legion. He hosted an annual fall harvest picnic for his family and friends every year. He was known for having a joke ready for whom ever he talked to and had a fantastic memory. He enjoyed Mike’s Cafe in Liberty. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends

He is survived by:
ONE SISTER: Mary Burriss of Bloomington, IL
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, a brother Andrew, and six sisters Barbara, Katherine, Helen, Theresa, Rose & Anne.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 9:30 AM in the All Faith’s Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home . Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Monday from 8:30AM until the time of the funeral mass at 9:30AM in the All Faith’s Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
