Timothy Jacob Wiewel
On Sunday, February 6th, 2022, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer, Timothy Jacob Wiewel, loving father, foodie, and unabashed wine-snob, has passed away in his home surrounded by family. Tim was born on August 7th, 1958, in Quincy, IL, to Kenneth and Jacqueline (Ancell) Wiewel. In school, he loved playing sports, excelling in both baseball and football. He also enjoyed fishing out at his family farm and down in the Ozarks with his buddies. Tim received his Bachelor’s in Accounting from Quincy University in 1980 and would later go on to obtain his Certification in Public Accounting. Tim spent many years honing his craft at Bennett and Middendorf between 1980-1994. Anyone that knew him knows that he was smart beyond words and could do calculations in his head that most of us could never dream of attempting without a calculator! After his time with Bennett and Middendorf, he ventured out on his own to open Wiewel Accounting. In addition to starting his own practice, he also decided to dip his toe in commercial real estate by becoming the proud owner of the historic WCU Building in Quincy. Several years after opening his business, he met his life-long business partner and friend, Andi Ash. Together they formed Wiewel & Ash Accounting.
Tim had many passions in life including golfing, gambling, cooking, and fine dining. You could pretty much guarantee that if you walked into the Grove Inn on a Monday night, you’d see Tim winning yet another hand against his card-playing buddies. Ever the entertainer, one of his favorite things to do was to cook for and share experiences with others. He did this through numerous dinner parties at his house, golf events, hosting friends in Vegas and catering events for his esteemed colleagues at the Quincy Exchange Club.
What he treasured above all else however, was traveling the world with his daughter. The minute she graduated high school, he had her on a plane to Paris. It was there while visiting the many splendid vineyards that his fascination with fine wines really flourished (much to the annoyance of an 18-year-old too young to appreciate it). Throughout their travels together, they enjoyed their time in Canada, Europe, New Zealand and of course, numerous trips to his absolute favorite city, Las Vegas. As his daughter got older, she started to appreciate fine dining and wine the same way he did. One of his most cherished memories was when they were in Paris together on Christmas and had a chance to dine at and meet Guy Savoy.
Tim was proceeded in death by his mother Jacqueline. He is survived by his daughter Lynn Wiewel, his father Kenneth Wiewel (Sandy Bush), his brother Doug, his sisters Chris Wiewel (Mike Schlinkmann) and Cindy Carlyle (Dan) and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

So sorry for your loss. It will certainly leave a void to fill in your life. Tim was a great friend and business associate as well as a great confidant. While we did not have much time together since we left Quincy 10 years ago, I have and will always cherish the time we had together. Best wishes and prayers for all.

Tim was the fun one on our carpool trips to St. Louis for the Becker CPA review course. 5 of us traveled some 15 Saturdays to class, and we all became CPAs. I am so sorry for your and “our” loss.
I knew Tim back in the day at St. Dominic’s and reuniting with him in the summer during high school playing American Legion ball. Heckuva player and great friend. Thoughts and prayers to the Wiewel family.

Tim will be missed by his many friends in the QHS Class of 76. We were beneficiaries of his cooking skills when he provided a Hog Roast for our 10th reunion and a Shrimp Boil for our 30th. What a great guy.
Sorry I hit send too soon. Tim was a great friend and wonderful human. He was a fun person to be around tremendous cook and clutch golfer. We enjoyed many good times together and I will miss him. The times we spent together at the Ozark golf outings and Hal Barton are wonderful memories I will always have. Tim was a fantastic cook and very kind even letting my boxer Tyson come into his condo and sit next to him on his couch so Tim could pet him. His impromptu dinners were awesome and wonderful occasions to enjoy his company.
Tim was a great guy.I was around a few few of those card games at the Grove Inn. Wild and Crazy guys. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.RIP buddy
Many years ago, Tim made our transition to the WCU building so easy. He was an excellent landlord and more importantly an all around great guy. He will be missed by many. We loved to hear of his travel stories with his daughter and his tips for the best wines from around the globe. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Tim was the perfect host, always spoiling his guests with great wine, fantastic food and lots of laughs. He loved to travel and Lynn, you were his perfect side-kick. Congratulations Tim on a life well-lived and prayers for all of us that will miss him.
I’ve known Tim since third grade at St. Dominics. He was a great guy and will be missed. So very sorry for the loss.
I’m just gutted with the loss of my big brother. I was able to share in that love of traveling with Tim with a trip to Italy and another to recent trip to Las Vegas. But my favorite memory was when I was around 5 or 6 and he would let me ride on his back as if he were my horse! The last time didn’t end well, involving a blindfold and a wall. I suppose that had something to do with it being the last time! He was always there for me and I’m glad I had such a great brother. I will miss him forever
