Thomas “Tom” Richard Laaker
Thomas “Tom” Richard Laaker, age 73, of Quincy died on Thursday, August 10,2023 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on December 7, 1949 in Quincy the son of Albert and Alvera (Kamphaus) Laaker. Tom married the love of his life, Virginia Ruth Lang on June 30, 1972. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in June 2022. She survives.
Tom graduated from Christian Brothers and was of the Catholic faith.
He was a machinist at Gardner Denver until his retirement in 2014. Tom enjoyed camping and fishing with his brothers. He adored his beloved dog, Buffy.
He is survived by his wife, two nieces; Dawn (Josh) Wand of Quincy, Danielle (Shawn) Dorsey of Jacksonville, IL; brothers: Charles (Pam) Laaker, Jeffrey (Laurie) Laaker and John (Lisa) Laaker; great nephews : Brendan (Hannah) Wand, Xian Wand and several other nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Theodora (Richard) Moyer of Plainville, IL; and dear friends Steve & Vikki Kacmarynski.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Patricia Thompson.
