Thomas “Tom” Meckes, 74, of Sycamore Health Center, formerly of 1302 N. 11th, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Blessing Hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1941, in Rock Island, Illinois, a son of Matthew and Odelia Johannes Meckes.

Tom was involved with music most of his life, including Notre Dame high school marching band, Quincy College dance band, local drum and bugle corps and several choirs. He also served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, where he was a member of the Air Force band.

Tom is survived by one brother, Mike Meckes and his wife, Alice of Kansas City, Mo., nine nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother.

A memorial Mass will be held at noon at Blessed Sacrament Church on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of the services in the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
