Thomas Richard Maas

Thomas Richard Maas, age 68, of Paducah, KY died on Monday, May 17, 2021 in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. Thomas was born on October 23, 1952 in Quincy, a son of Andrew and Katharine (Doyle) Maas. He married Kathy Richardson on June 13, 1987 and she survives.

For the last five years, Tom has been a bus driver for the Paducah Independence Schools, doing a job that he really enjoyed. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Tom was of the Catholic faith.

Tom was family-oriented, and the time spent with his family was the best. Nothing made him happier than making others happy, whether it was his family, friends, or acquaintances. It must be said that he couldn’t resist an All-You-Can-Eat buffet, he loved to eat! He was an outdoorsman who liked to go hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Paducah, KY; his Mom, Katharine Maas of Quincy; two children Tammy (Jim) Blair of Quincy and James (Kiesha) Richardson of Paducah, KY.
Grandchildren, Jayden Sutton and Zoe Blair, step-grandchildren, Alayasia, Adria and Korben Waggoner; a step-great granddaughter, Adeline Waggoner.
His brother and sisters, Jane Merker; Lon Maas; Chris Blackmore; Becky Keck; Barb Nieders; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his Dad.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Paducah, KY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

    I haven’t seen Tom in decades, but remember him well and had thought of him often over the years. We attended Christian Brothers HS together and years later I was his Air Force recruiter. Tom was a good man. May he Rest In Peace. My condolences to his family.

    Every time I seen Mr. Maas, he had a smile on his face! I sure will miss him. I considered him a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Kathy and his family. You all have my deepest sympathy. May God be with you and comfort you during this difficult time.

    So sorry for your loss. My grandfather was Henry Maas he was a brother to Buddy. May Tom Rest In Peace prayer are with you all. Thinking of you all and Katy I’m sorry for your loss as well
