Thomas Lawrence Hemmerle
Thomas Lawrence Hemmerle age 74, of Quincy, died Saturday, August 27, 2022, in his home.
Born on August 22, 1948, in East St. Louis, IL, he was the son of Steve and Patricia Ann (Adney Hemmerle) Biederman.
He married Debbie McManus on September 19, 1969, in Cahokia, IL and she survives.
Tom was a graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis, and at age 18 went to work for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. His first 15 years with the railroad he was an Engineer, and then he held management positions until his retirement at age 60.
Tom’s greatest passions were driving his Corvette and riding his Harley Davidson. He was a member of the Mark Twain Corvette Club and Christ Lutheran Church in Quincy. Tom enjoyed volunteering at Quincy Humane Society, where he got his beloved Schnauzer, Shadow.
In addition to his wife Debbie, survivors include their children:
Tom Hemmerle, Jr and his wife Natalie of Madisonville, KY; Tim Hemmerle and his partner Van of Birmingham, AL; Larry Hemmerle and his wife Jeanette of Auburn, IL and Gregg Hemmerle of Fenton, MO.
Five grandchildren, Joey Hemmerle and his wife Halie; Matt Hemmerle and his wife Molly; Lauren Hemmerle, Nick Hemmerle and Andrew Hemmerle.
Five Great Grandchildren, Hudson, Reese, Reid, Luke, and Rowan Hemmerle.
Two brothers, Mike Biederman and his wife Cindy; Guy Hemmerle and his wife Jane.
Two sisters-in-law, Margaret Silk and her husband Kenney; Becky Robert and her husband Denny, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
His parents (Steve, Patricia and John Hemmerle) and a brother, John Hemmerle preceded Tom in death.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Quincy.
Visitation will be Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.
