Thomas E. ‘Tom’ Shear

Thomas E. ‘Tom’ Shear, age 85, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in his home. He was born on March 30, 1938 in Quincy, the son of Gerald & Edna (Gibson) Shear. He married Patricia Miller on April 26, 1957. She survives.

Tom had many jobs over the years including being a meat cutter at many of the shops in the Quincy and Hannibal area. He was a member of Madison Park Chrisitan Church. Tom enjoyed fishing, motorcycle rides and being a storyteller.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
HIS CHILDREN: Leann Willingham of Worden, IL; Lisa Barnes of Quincy and Todd Shear also of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Timothy Shear, Chay Shear, Christine Shear, Zeke Shear and Zach Shear; Kandis Boden, Krysti Thomas and Tyler Willingham; Brooke Barnes, Taylor Mayfield and Isaac Barnes; Krista Shear and Jaret Shear.
ONE SISTER: Darla VandenBoom
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a son Timothy Shear, and siblings: Junior Shear, Joan Crane and William Shear.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned at this time. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Dear Pat and family, so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing . I spoke to him not all of that long ago in Walmart and he was just as pleasant as ever. May you share and dwell on good memories. Love and Prayers, Debbie Laws
