Thomas O. Bond, 70, of Quincy, formerly of Crystal Lake, IL, died on Thursday May 11, 2017 in Blessing Hospital.
Tom was born on January 12, 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Donald and Esther (Walker) Bond. He married Karen (Peter) Naderhoff on February 14, 2003 in Siesta Key, Florida. She survives.
He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University and his Masters at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business. Tom was Director of Operations of Supply Chain Management at United Sugars and Moorman Manufacturing (ADM). He was a member of the National Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi.
Tom enjoyed woodworking. Florida was a second home to him, where he enjoyed the beach. In his youth, he had a passion for old cars and mechanic work. He also loved his dog’s; Sam, Riley, Spirit and Scooter. He loved to bring joy and uplift others by gifts of special pewter coins.
Tom is survived by his wife, a son, Christopher O. Bond of Crystal Lake, IL, step son, Cory Naderhoff and step daughter Kaylie Naderhoff both of Quincy; Grandchildren, Abrie Naderhoff and Eli Naderhoff both of Quincy; a sister, Bonnie Bond-Caraberis and her husband John of Nova Scotia, Canada.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a wife, Candance Bond.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday May 17, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor Kevin McGinnis. Visitation will be Tuesday May 16, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in the Sarasota National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society or Mayo Clinic Research or Wabash Church Youth Ministries.
