Thomas A. “Tom” Rose

Thomas A. “Tom” Rose age 72, of Quincy died on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 9:51 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Tom was born in Chicago, IL on January 29, 1950, a son of Frank and Mary Ann (Fitzgerald) Rose. He married Kathy A. Kircher on May 27, 1978, in the Chapel at Quincy College, and she survives.

Tom was a Special Education teacher at Quincy Junior High and taught for eight years at the Adams County Youth Home prior to his retirement.

He graduated from St. Laurence High School in Burbank, IL in 1968. He went on to graduate from Illinois State University and earned his Master’s in Education from Western Illinois University.

Tom was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

He was an avid golfer, and member of the Bogey Busters. Tom was a loving grandpa who enjoyed attending his grandsons’ sporting events, and spending time with his baby granddaughters.

Tom had a special place in his heart for his pets and all animals. He also took pride in carefully maintaining his cars and his yard.

In addition to his wife Kathy, survivors include his daughter Erin Saalborn and her husband Scott of Quincy; grandchildren, Chase, Wyatt, Rhett, and twin granddaughters, Ryleigh and Hattie.

Sisters and brothers, Geri Lenihan; Ron (Linda) Rose; Fran Rose and Mary Beth (Ralph) Hawley; a sister-in-law, Jeanne (Rich) Sanders and nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Bryniece Kircher, and brother in-law, Dan Lenihan.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

Interment will be held privately at Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh.
Memorials have been suggested to St. Francis Catholic Church or to the Quincy Humane Society.
