Thomas A. “Tom” Koetters
Thomas A. “Tom” Koetters, age 73, of 736 North 14th, died on Friday, December 14, 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 14, 1939 in Quincy, IL the son of Richard & Beulah (Gredell) Koetters. After the early death of Beulah Koetters, Thomas was also raised by his step-mother, Genevieve (Thompson) Koetters. He married Sandra Clark on January 14, 1961 in Monroe City, MO at Holy Rosary Church. She survives.
Tom worked at Bueter’s Bakery for 18 years. He then later worked for Prairie Farms Dairy for 25 years until his retirement. Tom served in the Army Reserves for 5 years.
Tom was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved the outdoors and working outdoors. Tom always had a vegetable garden and loved to take care of his yard. He also enjoyed fixing things.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Lori Koetters and her husband Brian Smith of Homer Glen, IL; Angie Lohmeyer and her husband Tim, Bryan Koetters and his wife Corie and Steve Koetters and his wife Leslie all of Quincy.
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Clarke Smith; Scott Lohmeyer, Morgan Lohmeyer, Amelia Koetters, Brady Koetters, Katie Matthews, Lily Ann Koetters and Nicholas Anthony Koetters.
ONE GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Kaiden Lohmeyer.
TWO BROTHERS: Richard Koetters and his wife Mary; and Joe Koetters and his wife Carolyn.
ONE SISTER: Joan Keller and her husband George
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, 1 grandchild Allison Ann Koetters and a brother John Koetters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the St. Francis Funeral Luncheon Committee.
