Theresa Lee (“Terri”) Holtschlag, 64, of 838 South 57th Street, Quincy, died peacefully Monday, June 4, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born in Ft. Dodge, IA, on March 18, 1954, a daughter of Richard and Joan Hollister Summers. She married Kenneth Holtschlag on June 17, 1983, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Quincy; he survives.

She loved to entertain, preparing special meals for guests. She and Ken enjoyed vacationing and traveling with close friends and, in recent years, spending part of each winter in the Phoenix, AZ, area, with family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family; her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
In addition to her husband, Terri is survived by two sons, Michael Fitzgerald and his wife, Erica, and Nathan Holtschlag and his wife, Nicole, of Quincy; four grandchildren, Madeline, Andrew, and Mackenzie Fitzgerald and Grant Holtschlag of Quincy; her father, Richard Summers of Ft. Dodge; a sister, Michele Summers; and three brothers, Paul, Mark, and Matt Summers. She is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law and their spouses, Mary Miller, Helen Jansen, Louis (Lola) Holtschlag, Cecelia Duesterhaus, Alice (Dick) Mast, Evelyn Holtschlag, George (Mary Pat) Holtschlag, Delores Ringenberg, Pete (Kathy) Holtschlag, Steve (Debbie) Holtschlag, and Jerry (Shari) Fitzgerald; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Terri was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Summers; her first husband, James Heddinger, and her second husband, Daniel Fitzgerald; a brother, Michael Summers; her parents-in-law, Louis and Laura Holtschlag; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Carol Holtschlag, Thomas Holtschlag, Leroy Holtschlag, Russ Jansen, Les Duesterhaus, Thomas Fitzgerald, and Jim Fitzgerald and his wife, Judy; one nephew, Eric Ringenberg; and two great-nephews, Colin and Russell Ringenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018, in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Theresa’s life Saturday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at The Ambiance. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic School or the charity of the donor’s choice.

What a sweet, sweet soul! Didn’t know her as well as my mom — but she was a ray of sunshine when we met. We talked about the farmer’s markets and beautiful weather that brought her and Kenny out to Phoenix… after they hauled some family heirlooms for me — sent from Quincy. Such a nice favor. I know she fought a tough fight. And Kenny, you should feel comfort in knowing you have been the ROCK in making her fight easier. Much love.
