Theodore J. “Ted” Berglind age 89, of Quincy, formerly of North Bottom Road, Quincy died on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 4:05 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Ted was born October 25, 1927 in Quincy, a son of Arthur Theodore and Blanche Agnes (Schullian) Berglind. He married Virginia Ann Davis on December 26, 1950 in St. Mary Catholic Church, she preceded him in death September 20, 2011.
Ted was a registered land surveyor, beginning his career with W.H. Klingner & Associates in 1950. In 1968 he established his own surveying business, T.J. Berglind & Associates Surveyors, which he operated until 2000 when he retired.
He was a graduate of St. Francis Grade School, Notre Dame High School and attended Quincy College. Ted served in the U.S. Navy during 1945-46, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army serving from 1950-1952.
He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Ted was also a member of South Side Boat Club. Twin Oaks Club, Knights of Columbus and the Mart Heinen Club. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, taking pontoon rides on the Mississippi and spending time at the clubs that he was a member of. His pastimes included bird watching, bowling, camping and fishing. He enjoyed wintering in Orange Beach, AL and most of all, he enjoyed having a cocktail in the afternoon.
Survivors include his three daughters, Donna K. (Steven) Wiewel of Quincy; Jean Ann Crabtree of Las Vegas, NV and Linda S. (Ed) Holthaus of Quincy. Nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia, a sister, Patricia McCarthy; a son, Theodore “Teddy” James Berglind, II; and a grandson, Robert D. Reinold and his wife Tammy Wilson Reinold.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by the Rev. John Doctor, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to the K. of C. T.V.
