Terrence E. “Terry” McNett

Terrence E. “Terry” McNett, age 70, of 2518 E. Valley View, Quincy, died on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in his home. He was born on June 9, 1943 in Quincy, IL, the son of Harry & Veda (Frame) McNett. Terry graduated from Quincy High School and received a Business Degree from Quincy University. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Terry was the owner of McNett Furniture in Quincy.

Terry enjoyed boating, loved music, studying the Bible and all reading. He was an entrepreneur and a salesman. He was an avid sportsman and fan. In High School he played basketball and baseball. He was an excellent bowler, having achieved a 299 game and numerous 700 series over the years. Terry had also been Past President of the Junior Bowlers Association in Quincy. He was a die hard Cubs Fan. Terry’s sons were able to take him to a Cubs game on July 5, 2009 and they beat the Brewers that day. A Life long dream came true getting to Wrigley. .He liked to watch Tiger Woods and Luke Guthrie. Terry was a huge fan of LeBron James and Peyton Manning. Terry also loved food and had a sweet tooth. He was also known to sing a song or two with vigor and passion. He also loved dogs, especially ‘Princey from Quincy’.

Terry cared for others and was kindhearted and compassionate. He was a great friend and good listener.

Terry is survived by:
TWO SONS: Shane McNett and his wife Cyndy of Normal, IL and Chris McNett and his wife Nancy of Libertyville, IL
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Gabrielle and Noelle McNett and Sarah, Annie and Ryan McNett.
SISTER: Katie Ripper and her husband Dennis and Sharon Pike and her husband Gary.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Terry was preceded in death by parents .

Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 Am in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veteran’s Home. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Sorry for you loss. Terry, we called him Butch in Kinderhook, was the best man at my wedding. He will be missed.

    I had the wonderful experience to work with him for several years. Heaven truly has an angel, just as he was on earth, but now he is looking over us all!!! Love and hugs… RIP Terry

    Alot of us will really miss Terry. We all worked closely with him for a long time. He always knew the right thing to say. So many of us from work want to pay our condolences. We all liked him alot. Rest in peace, Terry.

    Terry was a great friend for over 30 years. We enjoyed his company, sweet nature and gentle spirit. Our hearts are broken and our lives have such a great void knowing he is gone from us forever in this life. We look forward to meeting again someday in Heaven. We Love You Terry
