Teresa D. Carter

Teresa D. Carter, age 57, of Quincy, died on Sunday, November 7, 2021 in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born on March 10, 1964 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Edward and Bonnie (Whitehead) Brewer. She married Jeff Carter on August 12, 2000 in Quincy. He survives. Teresa worked at International Eyecare Center for over 30 years and retired as president of the company. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.

Teresa loved animals, especially her dogs. She liked fishing, painting and sketching. Her greatest enjoyment, though, was time spent with her family and most importantly, the grandkids. Teresa never met a person that she didn’t like and always wanted to be able to help people.

Her Lord and Savior has called his angel home to be by His side. He has a plan for her and needs her to help Him fulfill that plan. She enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be missed by so many. Her presence and smile would light up any room she entered.

Teresa was a loving wife, best friend, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and cousin and most of all a friend to everyone she met.

In addition to her husband, Jeff, she is also survived by:
HER MOTHER: Bonnie Brewer of Kahoka, MO
CHILDREN: Charles Long (Haylee) of Rushville, IL; Keith Long of Quincy; Nathan Long (Rachael) of Canton, MO; Ashley Carter (Carlo Lopez) of Chicago, IL: Sarah Carter of Quincy and Olivia Carter Hoener (Bryce) of St. Louis, MO.
GRANDCHILDREN: Amelia, Izek and Leo.
SIBLINGS: Tina Nixon (Kevin); Tonya Brewer and Terri Williams (John)
Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father and a granddaughter, Paityn.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Faith Presbyterian Church at 1027 South 24th, Quincy, Illinois. Services to be celebrated by Dr. Tom Dickerson. Visitation will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church on Saturday from 1:00 until 4:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Oncology ICU Department at Barnes Jewish Hospital or Faith Presbyterian Church.

She is my inspiration for doing what I do today. Someone going through something life altering, herself, yet; always thinking and doing for someone else. So sorry for your loss!

Teresa had the most amazing business mind I’ve ever met. Her ability to adjust and readjust constantly never ceased to amaze me. She had a computer for a brain and used it well. I truly admired her. And miss her
