Sylvia Marie Collins
Sylvia Marie Collins, age 89, of Quincy died on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at St. Vincent Home. She was born on October 1, 1932, the daughter of Bernard G. and Marguerite (Kemner) Schulte. She married Roy Edwin Collins on April 14, 1956, in St. Francis Catholic Church, Quincy, IL.
Sylvia was employed at Motorola for twenty-four years and Radio Shack for twenty-six years.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church where she was very active in the Secular Franciscans, St. Francis Liturgy, St. Francis Food Pantry, and flower committee, and as a communion minister, reader and greeter. She also was a member of Birthright and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter: Cinthia Mary Collins; her siblings, Teri Duesterhaus, Cecilia Middendorf and Bernard Schulte. Many other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her two sons, Roy Joseph Collins and Alan Dale Collins, siblings: Irene, Leona, Vivian, Bernice, Marguerite, Ellen and Helen; brothers-in-law, Neal Middendorf, Henry Brinker and Herb Bowen; sister-in-law, Joan Schulte.
Cremation has been accorded to Sylvia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. in St Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of services at the church. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Secular Franciscans, St. Francis Catholic Church, St. Francis School, St. Francis Food Pantry or Birthright of Adams County. Services are in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Many fond memories of Sylvia. She was a strong woman and a good role model ♥️
Sylvia was involved in the Secular Franciscans for years. I knew her briefly when she would assist when I celebrated Mass at St. Francis. I know her sister, Cecilia Middendorf, much better from her daily attendance at Mass in the QU chapel. I regret not seeing Cecilia at the wake, but I am hesitant to go out because of the snow we had last night.
I didn’t really get to know Aunt Sylvia but the times I did see her and we got to chat she seem to be real nice and sweet to me. I wish I would of got to know her better. I love you Aunt Sylvia and miss you until we meet again!!
I have fond memories of Aunt Sylvia during Christmas at granny’s house.Always brought a smile to your face to see her. She was the pillar of her family. Rest In Peace Aunt Sylvia, love you always.

I’ll always remember Sylvia called me kid when she’d see me. She had a kind heart, what is a beautiful soul inside and out who loved her faith. Lots of memories to hold dear. Being a part of her family is something I’ll always cherish. She will be greatly missed but always filled close in our hearts.
