Sylvia Elizabeth Wellman

Sylvia Elizabeth Wellman age 93, of 1510 North 10th Street, Quincy died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 6:40 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. She was born July 15, 1921 in Quincy, a daughter of John Joseph and Agnes Helen (Weitholder) Kroner. She married Clarence E. Wellman on April 30, 1941 in Hannibal’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Clarence preceded her in death May 19, 2003.
Sylvia was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had been a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, and currently was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth’s Society at St. Francis.
She was a wonderful person; Sylvia’s family was most precious to her, as she was to them.
Survivors include her children, Donald Wellman and his wife Sharon; Phyllis Grussemeyer all of Quincy; Karen Reeves of Cullman, AL; Judy Sharp of Las Vegas, NV and Joann Eversden and her husband Sparky of Quincy. A brother, Richard Kroner and his wife Joyce; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Wellman all of Quincy; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive along with nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Edward Wellman in infancy and Ronald Wellman; a sister, Marjean Entrup, a brother Merle Kroner; a granddaughter, Joy Wellman; a daughter-in-law, Karen Pike Wellman and three sons-in-law, Donald Grussemeyer, Dan Reeves and Dana Sharp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Parish Center Building Fund.
