Susan V. Schoonover
Susan V. Schoonover, age 72, of Quincy passed away on November 16, 2024 at Blessing Hospital. She was born on August 21, 1952 in Quincy, IL to Leonard and Virginia (Frericks) Meyer. Susan married Stephen L. Schoonover on December 30, 1970 in St. Thomas Catholic Church at Camp Point, IL. He survives.
Throughout her working years she was a daycare worker, ward clerk, CNA and therapy tech. She enjoyed going out for breakfast and taking walks and spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Iggy. She enjoyed the simple things in life. She also enjoyed being a pen pal with her Aunt Verna, whom she dearly loved, for more than 25 years.
She wishes to thank her husband Stephen for his dedication to her care and to Stephanie and Jeremy and his wife Jeni for all their help in her time of need.
She is also survived by a daughter Stephanie Schoonover, a son Jeremiah (Jeni) Schoonover, a grandson Ignatius “Iggy” Schoonover, two step grandsons, Robbie (Katlyn Roberts) Cain and Cameron (Jacqueline) Cain and their daughters, Finley and Delilah all of Quincy; three brothers and four sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
The family wants to send a special thank you to Ashley, Tim and Brooke from Blessing Home Care and to Melody from Blessing Hospice and the nurses who cared for Susan at Blessing Hospital.
At Susan’s request there will be no visitation and no services. Cremation rites accorded. There will be a private family burial.
Duker & Haugh Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
