Steven Ray Ballard Kamphaus, age 54, of 2002 Benton St., Hannibal left this world and rode his Harley into eternal happiness on Friday, February 18, 2011 in Hannibal Regional Hospital. Steve was born May 25, 1956 in Quincy, son of Paul & Patsy (Dean) Ballard. He married Debra Kamphaus. She survives.

Steve served in the US Navy fueling F-4 Fighters on the Midway Carrier #41 during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge after serving in Saigon.

Steve was an avid Harley motorcycle rider and enjoyed going to motorcycle rallies.
He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Steve was also an accomplished cook.

In addition to his wife, Debra, survivors include his mother Patsy (Patrick) Dean of Quincy; his father Paul Ballard of Albion, IL; a twin sister, Stephanie; (Robert) Brueggeman; sister, Sherry (Donald) Winczewski; and a daughter, Leslie.
Four nephews, including a special nephew Staff Sgt. Christopher Brueggeman, and four great-nephews survive. One surviving Aunt Vera Priest.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Leslie & Helen Phillips who raised him and a son in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Activities Fund at the Illinois Veteran’s Home.
