Steven K. Sinnock
Steven K. Sinnock, age 71, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in Sunset Home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 19, 1950 in Quincy the son of Floyd C. Sinnock, Jr. and Delta M. “Bebe” (Whaley) Sinnock. Steve married Margie Schwartz on September 18, 1971 in St. Francis Catholic Church, Quincy, IL. She survives.
Steve graduated from St. Peter Grade School, Quincy Senior High in 1968, and Quincy Beauty Academy/John Wood Community College in 1984. He was a hairstylist for over 30 years, and owned The Gallery Salon. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Steve was very creative and enjoyed making decorations to liven up empty spaces. He also had a talent using a sewing machine and made clothes for his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Steve loved to travel, and was often able to combine this with continuing education as a hairstylist. Many family vacations were taken to cities that hosted Hair Conventions including Miami Beach, Las Vegas, Lake Geneva, and St. Louis. He truly enjoyed his profession and connected with people as their hairstylist. There were many weddings, high school dances, and other special events where he loved serving as a stylist.
Steve loved to be around people, especially his family. His pride and joy were his wife, Margie, and their children, Brandon and Shannon, and he was very proud of his grandchildren, Keagan, Courtney, and Lexi.
Steve also enjoyed going to the casino.
The family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers at Bickford and Sunset Home, and the Hospice staff, especially Sarah Thornton, April, Matt, Trista, Ariel, and Chaplain Richard for the compassionate care and support they provided to Steve, Margie, and the family.
In addition to his wife, Margie, he is survived by his children: Brandon C. (Kelly) Sinnock of Cedar Rapids, IA and Shannon K. (Mike) Peters of Quincy; siblings, Mel (Karen) Sinnock of N. Aurora, IL, Denny Sinnock of Quincy, and Steve’s twin sister, Shari (Dave) Brown of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Keagan, Courtney, and Alexa “Lexi” Sinnock. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Delta “Bebe” and Floyd Sinnock, and his in-laws, Ed and Catherine Schwartz.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Though it’s been far too long since I’ve seen him, it still saddens me deeply to hear he has passed. He did my hair for many years & I just loved talking to him. He was always joking with me & we always had a good time. My sincere condolences to Steve’s family & friends. He was just a really good guy who’ll be missed by us all.

I met Steve when he chaperoned the QND Spanish Trip to Mexico in 1991. In the years since, mostly when I saw him at St. Peters, he could always be counted on for a gracious and friendly hello. Condolences to Brandon, Kelly and the rest of the family.

Steve Sinnock was by far the funniest man that either my wife, Marianne, or myself have ever known. He has been our friend and my barber for close to 40 years. A fine family man and a great supporter of community causes, Steve was the very essence of a good citizen. I tried for late night appointments or Mondays, his day off, because that is when the wine came out and the most entertaining stories flowed. He shall have a special place in our hearts forever.

Never a dull moment when I had my hair done with Steve. Though we did not solve the problems of the world, we sure talked a lot about them. Steve was genuinely a great guy! May he Rest In Peace. My condolences to his family.

Please accept our condolences and prayers on the passing of Steve. He is a big loss in this world. Sue always told me how he would make her haircuts funny and enjoyable and I know that whenever I would see him, he and I would always swap jokes. I know that Stephen really got a kick out of him when he would come to your house to hang out with Brandon. I seems as if God always takes the best ones first. He is up in Heaven waiting for the rest of you to join him, May God Bless and Comfort you in this time of loss.

Steve by far was my favorite friend’s dad. Pretty sure I scared him as Brandon’s friend. But man his laugh was contagious. He was a good guy and I know will be missed by friends and family. Prayers for all.
Margie and family, I’m so very sorry for your loss. My mom, Betty Taylor, worked w Steve @ Motorola, she was very fond of him! He pierced my ears as a teen. What a good, kind and fun loving man he was, may he rest in eternal peace. Prayers for peace and comfort in this difficult time.

Margie and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Steve’s passing! I worked with him at Gardner Denver back in 77-‘80. He was so much fun, and always had a smile. He was so supportive when I made my Cursillo. Sending prayers for peace and comfort.
Haircut time was fun discussing our sewing/embroidery projects. I recall he made beautiful pieces for the church. He dearly loved his family and was so proud of them.
I was fortunate to have Steve care for my hair for at least 15 years & then lucky to move next to Steve & Marge in a condo. Steve is at peace now.
