    Mary,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I am sorry I could not be at the visitation, I was out of town.
It sounded like Steve was sent out of this world with an awesome celebration of the life he lived!
Steve was one of the nicest guys I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. My memories of Steve go back to the fish fry’s at St. Dominics many years ago. He always had a smile and a funny comment to share.
I would take the time to see if Steve was working when I went to Hy Vee. It was a selfish move on my part, because Steve always had a way of lifting my spirits.
Years later I ran into Steve at the store and it was like the time between our previous visit was only days instead of years. He still greeted me with a big smile and hand shake.
I think our next meeting will be the same, I only hope I can live my life as good as Steve’s so I can look forward to seeing that smile greet me at Heaven’s gate!
God Bless You and your family!

Janie, I was shocked to hear of Steve’s passing. He was one of the nicest guys in our class, always happy, never judgmental or mean. May you all find peace in your memories of the love you shared with Steve.

During the Summer of 2008 I stopped in to Hy-Vee Wine and Spirts and was surprised to have Steve ask me if my mom was Gloria Harmon. I didn’t even recognize him since I hadn’t seen him since I was a child. My family had grew up across the street from Steve’s. We chatted, and I remember leaving the store being thankful I had run into him. He had mentioned my grandfather and what a great man he was, which I really appreciated, and we had chatted about our families. It was just a nice and friendly conversation that brought back great memories and made me happy to come from a small and friendly area of the country. I am deeply sorry to hear about Steve’s passing and I wish the best for his family and friends. I know this is a very difficult time and I can’t express enough how sorry I am. I hope my little memory of Steve will bring you a smile. He was a wonderful person and I am lucky to have “bumped” into him. May he rest in peace and be waiting for you on the other side.

The first guy to walk up and shake my hand and bring me a beer when I moved on the block. Always had a smile, always willing to stop and say HI. What a great guy! We are so sorry for your loss.

    Dear Mary and family:
My deepest sympathy on your loss. I first met Steve in 1980 at Save U More foods. He always had a smile and was just fun to be around.
One of the last times I saw Steve he was wearing a Green Bay packer sweater vest. We talked about how he got it and being packer fans. The world has one less good guy but heaven has gained a really great husband, father and friend. Again our depest symapthy John and Patrick McGee

I close my eyes and can see his smile…I listen in the dark and I hear is voice “Lynnan this is your pal Stephen McNally” I only knew him a brief time but it feels like a life time because that’s how he made you feel. He truly is a blessing and a gift I will treasure always. As each tears falls may you take comfort in the smiles that you left behind and the love of all the hearts you filled. May the Lord above keep you in His loving care. May He watch over and protect all those you love and bless them all with all life’s blessing. Rest in Peace my friend and To you his family. You were truly blessed and he is where he has worked so hard to be, so be happy for him because he’s journey and God’s work has just begun. Love to you all!!
