Stephen Robert Bybee
Stephen Robert Bybee, age 67, of 603 Eagle Trace, Quincy, IL , died on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Oslo Norway while vacationing with his wife in Europe. Steve was born on November 27, 1946 in Canton, IL the son of John & Pat (Maurice) Bybee. He was a graduate of Quincy High School in 1964 and Quincy University in 1968. Steve married Mary Alice Benson on June 7, 1969 in Chicago, IL. She survives. Steve retired from Quincy Compressor in 2009 after many years of service, serving in many roles including Director of Sales and Marketing. He had also previously worked for Knapheide Manufacturing. Steve was a Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam era. He attended St. Peter Catholic Church in Quincy.
Steve was an avid golfer and enjoyed sports both as an athlete, having played baseball in both high school and college, and as a fan. He was a supporter of Quincy High School athletics. He was a member of Spring Lake Country Club, where he served on several committees including as a member of the Board. Steve was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather and acted as a father figure to many. He immensely enjoyed spending time with family and friends and derived great joy in attending the various activities of his children and grandchildren. In recent years, he loved traveling the world with his wife and friends.

HIS MOTHER: Pat Bybee of Quincy
TWO SONS: Kevin Bybee and his wife Amie of Overland Park KS and John Bybee and his wife Abby of Sherman, IL
FIVE GRANDSONS: Alexander, Benjamin and Zachary Bybee and Nicholas and Joseph Bybee.
ONE BROTHER: Bruce Bybee and his wife Ann of Burnett, TX
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, John Bybee and son Christopher Bybee in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the Children’s SPOT of St. Luke’s Hospital-Kansas City, or to Quincy High School Athletics. www.dukerandhaugh.com
