Sonja Bonness Oceretko, age 79, of New York, NY, formerly of Quincy, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2016 in New York. She was born on April 10, 1937 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Reinhold Richard & Anna (Feld) Bonness. She graduated from Quincy High School and attended the Art Instruction Inc. in Minneapolis, MN. She married Dr. Jaroslav ‘Jay’ Oceretko. He preceded her in death.

Professionally Sonja was a singer, songwriter, actress and spokesperson. Her family was always proud of how Sonja started out in Quincy and made it all the way to working in New York City. Locally she was on TV and radio and she also travelled across the country performing. Personally she was also a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in New York, NY.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Robert, Richard & Leon Bonness, 2 sisters: Germaine and Joanne Bonness

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
