Sierrah Sue Noble
Sierrah “Sue” Noble, 77, of Quincy, passed away quietly in her sleep on April 2, 2021 in Avon, Indiana.
Sue was born on May 16, 1943 in Perry, IL to Russell and Dorris Davis. She graduated from Perry High School. She married Jerry Noble on February 2, 1961 and they celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Sue worked various jobs starting out as a part-time secretary at Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church in Quincy and a bus driver. In her mid-thirties she attended the St. Mary School of Respiratory Care graduating in 1979. She was a Respiratory Therapist at St. Mary Hospital and Blessing Hospital for many years before retiring.
Sue was a proud mother of three children: one son, Lonnie, and two daughters: Marcia and Alicia. Her favorite role in life was being a grandmother and she loved the title “G” affectionately given to her by the grandchildren. She had a special bond with each of them. The greatest love of her life was her husband, Jerry. She would often reminisce and share stories everyday of her life until the day she passed.
Sue’s sassy, quirky, funny sense of humor made it easy for her to meet others and become friends. She loved her winters in Florida and the many friendships she developed over the years. Her neighbors on North 27th Street were like family and she enjoyed the block parties and the many gatherings throughout the years and her special friend, Emily. And, she always looked forward to the St. Mary Hospital “gang” and having a Margarita or two on Fridays.
She enjoyed planting flowers and maintaining her yard throughout the year and visiting the family farm, the Ponderosa. Sue loved all animals especially her furry companions: Lady, Katie, and Ally all whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by her three children: Lonnie L. Noble (Juliana Chugg-Noble), Marcia Noble-Scoville, and Alicia A. Noble (Kyle H. Parke); 8 grandchildren: Nick Noble, August Noble, Carly Noble, Laura Chugg and Harrison Chugg, McKenzie Scoville Suiter (Justin), Sidney Scoville, Austin Garrett Parke and 4 great-grandchildren: Hudson Noble Witchger, Leighton Gray Suiter, Liv Noble Suiter and Taytem Rae Noble.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Noble, and grandson, Hunter Scoville.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Quincy Boat Club for a “Celebration of Life” to commemorate Sue’s life. Her ashes will be scattered at the family farm, the Ponderosa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quincy Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association on her behalf. Arrangements in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
I’m an old neighbor across the bridge that lead to The Noble Homestead back in the 1900’s well the 70’s. I loved IThe Nobles. A very active and fun place to visit. When I would come play with Marcia as a little girl I remember Sue was always happy. A happy home and a childhood I will always cherish. Sorry for your loss. Our parents were good good friends. I will always remember spending Labor Day weekend with your family.
My condolences on the passing of your mother Sue. Our families spent time together in my early years on the Mississippi River and July 4th at Siloam Springs. I will always remember your mom’s voice and your dad’s eyes. My heart goes out to you.
I worked with Sue at St. Mary for a number of years. She was always full of fun and loved her patients and her family. She will be missed.
I was so saddened to see Sue had passed. We worked together at both hospitals and I loved working with her. She was one of a kind and always could get a laugh with her wit , and was a great friend. I know how much she loved her kids and grandkids. I am so sorry for you all to have lost her!
