Shirley Marie Kuse
Shirley Marie Kuse, age 94, of Sunset Haven, formerly of 2837 Harrison Street, died on Saturday, February, 23, 2013 at 9:20 P.M. in the home. She was born on January 23, 1919 in Quincy, IL the daughter of August & Bertha (Loher) Schmidt. She married Maurice R. Kuse on November 30, 1940. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2006.
Shirley was a 1937 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was a former long time member of the St. Elizabeth Society at St. Boniface Church. She was also a volunteer for the former St. Mary Hospital Auxiliary and the Blessing Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Kuse was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by:
TWO SONS: Msgr. Michael Kuse of Quincy and Gregory Kuse and his wife Joyce also of Quincy.
TWO GRANDDAUGHTERS: Angel Venvertloh and her husband Bruce and April Sibbing and her husband Richard all of Quincy
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Abbie Kline, William and Michael Venvertloh, Augustus, Wesley & Sophia Sibbing.
A SISTER: Betty Sipek of Pittsfield.
A SISTER-IN-LAW: Jacqueline Schmidt of Quincy
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers; Floyd and Virgil Schmidt in infancy and Merle, Bob, and Donald Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 7:00 PM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 7th & Adams. Interment will be held on Friday at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the church. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Shirley Marie Kuse.
Mike & Greg; my thoughts are with you in your loss. I was out of state until this last weekend and just now learned of your mothers passing. She is in the Lord’s hands now.
