Sherri Lynn Long, 76, departed this life on November 3, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO, dying from complications of Covid-19. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Larry G. Long of Ballwin, MO where the couple have resided for forty years. Also surviving is her sister, Vicki Davis Otis of Northbrook, IL; a niece, Katya Lysander of Chicago; a nephew David Otis of Seattle, WA; a godson, John Ketterman of Dover, MO; as well as cousins, a half-sister Leslie Davis, beloved nieces and nephews of her husband; and close friends in the St. Louis area as well as in her hometown of Quincy, IL.

Sherri was born on August 8, 1945, to Leonard K. and Anne (Hagerbaumer) Davis in Quincy. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem U.C.C. where her Hagerbaumer ancestors had been active members for well over a century. As a teenager, Sherri taught at the Louise Williams School of Dance in Quincy.

A 1963 graduate of Quincy High School, she attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where she was a member of the pom-pom squad, and then Quincy University. She was employed in a stockbroker’s office in Quincy before joining the firm of Continental Cablevision in 1967, where she worked for almost three decades until the company was sold. She was still working as an accountant and business manager at the time of her death.

Sherri was an avid traveler who did not quite reach her goal of visiting all 50 states, but had memories and friends made on her trips to Alaska, Hawaii, England and France. She loved playing board games with her family and swimming in the backyard pool. Her signature dance move was the “shimmee”.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the Lupus Foundation or to the Macular Degeneration Association.
