Sheila C. Smith

Sheila C. Smith age 68, of 4611 State Street, Apt. 18 Quincy, deid on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:29 a.m. in her home. Sheila was born November 4, 1945 in Pittsfield, MA a daughter of Francis Peter and Viola (Durand) Galligan. She married Gerald D. Smith on July 31, 1964, and he preceded her in death March 18, 2013.
Sheila worked as a secretary and book keeper for Brighton Painting Co. in South Roxanna, IL prior to her retirement.
She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and active with Cursillo and REC (Residents Encounter Christ). Sheila was a fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and loved watching them play. She was a generous, person with a big heart, and she would help anyone that she could. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Survivors include:
TWO CHILDREN: Robert “Bob” Smith and his wife Kristi of O’Fallon, IL and Debra Beard and her husband Tim of Quincy
FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Mackenzie Smith, Amber Smith, Brexton Beard and Delaney Beard
FOUR SISTERS-In-Law: Shirley Llewellyn, Betty Ann Allen, Linda Cady and husband Marvin and Sandra Yelliott and husband Roger.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Rev. George Kramer. Interment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.     I was looking for an address or phone for Sheila because my cell phone lost all my numbers. When I found Sheila’s obituary. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

    Bobby & Debbie: I’m not sure you remember me, but I knew your mother (& dad, just a little) when they camped at Bayview Campground many years ago…A couple of years ago, I got reaquainted with your mother thru my ‘Why Catholic” group..just wanted to extend my sympathy to you both & tell you I thought she was one fine lady who’s heart was truly tuned into God!
