Sharon Sue Herrington
Sharon Sue Herrington, age 82, of Quincy, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, in Blessing Hospital. She was born on January 23, 1942, in Madison, MO, daughter of Charles and Helen (Clair) Elsberry. Sharon married Ron Herrington on October 28, 1961, in the St. Boniface School’s on the gymnasium stage, as the church was still being built.
Sharon retired from Sears formerly at the Quincy Mall in August of 2004 after thirty years. After retirement she worked part-time at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Sharon was a faithful member of St. Francis Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Francis and also volunteered at the Ladies of Charity. In her spare time, Sharon enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sharon and her family are grateful to their special neighbors: Jean Jesburg and Carolyn Altgilbers. Their thoughtfulness and friendship will never be forgotten.
In addition to her husband Ron, Sharon is survived by her children: Steve (Gail) Herrington and Jeff Herrington of Quincy; and Jon (Annie) Herrington of Belton, TX. Grandchildren: Nicole (Patrick) Herrington-Parsons of Quincy; Kaity Herrington of Seattle, WA; Mark Herrington of Dallas, TX; and Allison (Brady) Allison of Temple, TX. Great-grandchildren: Jamie Parsons of Quincy and Sadie Allison of TX. Step-grandchildren: Sam and Brett Westerhoff of Quincy. Two sisters: Lynda (Gene) Vahle and Cheri (Gary) Emery; niece Laura (Adam) Fenton and nephew Jason (Candy) Daggs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law Marilyn Stowell and Carole Klaman, and brother, Larry Clair.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 12:00 Noon with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church on Friday, September 12, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Memorials are suggested for the Ladies of Charity or to the American Cancer Society. Service arrangements are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Messages may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com

Sharon and I were roommates in 1960 in Quincy. She was a wonderful person. May Ron have many happy memories if their years together.
