Sharon Lee Holthaus

Sharon Lee Holthaus, age 76, of 1850 Jersey, died on Sunday, September 11, 2011 in the Emergency Room of Blessing Hospital. She was born on May 31, 1935 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Maurice & Estelle (Price) Harding. She married Jude J. Holthaus, the love of her life, on May 26, 1972 in Quincy. He survives.

Sharon graduated from Quincy Senior High School and Gem City Business School.
She had most recently worked as a funeral service assistant at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.

Sharon was a volunteer for Ladies of Charity. A talented artist, she spent many years teaching and making ceramics. She enjoyed time spent with all of her family and her friends. Sharon loved to bake and was known for sharing her irresistible caramel corn and cookies.

She was a dedicated shopper; and she always looked forward to seeing people and having the opportunity to socialize. Sharon truly enjoyed doing things to help other people, and she would do just that with her beautiful smile.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Steven (Kim) Bush, Chris Holthaus and Troy Holthaus all of Quincy; four daughters, Vicki Franzen of Riverside, IL, Kim (Bill) Cox and Lisa Garner both of Quincy and Tammy Greene of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Maurie Vogelsong of Houston, TX and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws also survive.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Ladies of Charity.

    I am so sorry to hear of Sharon’s untimely passing. I am a long time (since birth) friend of Maurie and wonder just how Sharon would put up with some of our antics. Sharon must have had the patience of Job. Please accept my sincere condolences.

    I hope all the happy memories fill your thoughts, with such loss of a sweet and thoughtfull person! I know my Aunt Margaret H. will miss her as well. Her smile will be missed.
