Sharon K. Hendricks
Sharon K. Hendricks, age 62, of Liberty, died on Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Blessing Hospital Emergency Department. She was born on November 13, 1957 in Quincy, the daughter of Robert & Margaret (Amen) March.
Sharon graduated from Central High School in 1975. She was active in softball and band, taking place in several solo flute competitions. She also played on the very first girls basketball team. During her high school career she was employed at the local Tastee Freeze, the Clayton Café, and Malcomson Grocery.
After graduating high school, Sharon attended Northeast Missouri State University. She later went on to work for the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy for 32 years, retiring as Director of Human Resources. During this time, she enjoyed playing slow pitch softball for Instant Replay and for teams including the Windmill Inn and the Illinois Veteran’s Home. She was also active in volleyball at the Quincy YMCA.
Sharon enjoyed gardening, watching her hummingbirds, and taking care of her flowers. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She also had a soft heart for animals and often opened her home to an occasional stray cat or dog. Sharon was always a caring person, right up until her last and final gift, a donation to The Gift of Hope.
Survivors include her father, Robert March of Clayton; Two daughters from her first marriage to Marlon Mueller: Kendra (Matt) Harris and their son Hudson from Liberty and Kara Mueller (and “bonus daughter” Lisa Schwartz) of Quincy.
She later married William Hendricks and gained two more children: Tyler (Evelyn) Hendricks of Ewing and Stephanie Hendricks and her children Joey, Charlie, and Cody of Quincy. Sharon has two siblings that also survive: Steve (Karen) March of Clayton and Janet March also of Clayton. Other survivors include two nephews David and Shawn March of Clayton and one niece Dawn (Chance) March of Sadorus, IL. Great nieces include Jayde and Ady March and Everly Typer.
Sharon was preceded in death by her mother.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. A private family service will be held later. Interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Quincy K-9 Connection.
I am very sorry that Bob March lost a daughter too soon, that Steve & Janet will miss a dear sister, that Bill will grieve for the love of his life, that Sharon’s children & grandchild will miss out on her love and that numerous family & friends will miss her humor & wit. Sharon was a CHS 1975 graduate and was planning our 45th Reunion for Aug. 22 which had to be cancelled. Will miss you, friend, and the way we could visit, laugh & visit some more as if years hadn’t gone by. —Beth and David Stephens

I was shocked to hear this news. I guess we truly never know when our time on Earth is done. I have great memories of Sharon when we played softball together, and of her attending all of our Sunday Music Series performances. Prayers and hugs for you all.

Sorry to hear about Sharon. She worked with my mom at the Vets Home. We use to watch her play softball for Instant Replay back in the day. My prayers are with your’e family.
To Kara, Kendra, and family. So shocked to hear this. Sending our deepest sympathy. We enjoyed sharing times with your mom cheering the team on through the years when you girls played summer league ball. She was a sweet lady.

What a shock! Sharon will be sadly missed. She was loyal, smart and dedicated to our veterans. She was fair to all. Her since of humor made her very likable. Our sincere condolences to Bill, Kendra, Kara and Bob. May She Rest In Peace!

Bill, I’m so very sorry on the loss of your beloved Sharon. I remember the day she interviewed me. I will always remember her with fondness. She was a very special lady!

Sharon was always so full of light and such a delight to be around. I knew of her in High School and sadly didn’t know her then, but was taught by her Father, who’s an exceptional man.. And Bill is an old acquaintance that’s hard to forget. We’ve enjoyed Sharon’s company so much and combined with Bill, they complimented each other so well, completely making each visit so enjoyable. Heaven has gained another Angel! But hopefully she won’t tell some of the ornery stuff that Bill and I did!
I still can’t believe she’s gone. What a wonderful lady! I’ll love her forever.
Bill and family, I know God will be there to help you through this time. My life was enriched because Sharon was a part of it. That smile that was so contagious to get and return will be missed but never forgotten. Take the peace God will supple you with and think of all things good which is and was Sharon.
