Sandra K. “Sandy” Schutte
Sandra K. “Sandy” Schutte, age 80, left this world on Saturday, March 11, 2023, to be with her husband Jim. She was born in Quincy on April 24, 1942, a daughter of Ralph and Louise (McDaniel) Dieker. She was a graduate of Payson Seymour High School. She married James “Jim” Schutte on November 24, 1962, in St. John the Baptist Church. Sandy was a seamstress for over 40 years and had her own business for window treatments.
Sandy was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her family and friends. Sandy also always fondly remembered the vacations she and Jim were able to take with family and friends.
She is also survived by:
FOUR SONS: Jeff Schutte and his wife Ann of Bartlett, IL; Steve Schutte and his wife Leanne of O’Fallon, MO; Brad Schutte and his wife Stacy of Quincy and Doug Schutte also of Quincy.
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Heather, Jessica, and Nicole (fiancé Joevani Alcantar) Schutte; Austin (fiancé Kayla Bals) Schutte and Ashley (Kaleb) Shocklee; and Lindsey (Nick) Fox and Logan Schutte.
GREAT GRANDCHILD: Lawson Fox.
EIGHT SIBLINGS: Stan “Sonny” Dieker (JoAnn Gibson) of Placitas, NM; Ed Dieker of Nokomis, FL; Sharon “Shari” Keck (Dennis) of Quincy; Bob Dieker (Joan) of Barry, IL; Dave Dieker (Donna) of Quincy; Debie Entrup (Mike) of Quincy; Mike Dieker of Plainville and Vickie Molohon (Rodney) of Quincy. In-law Dick and Delores Wiewel along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim; sisters Joyce Geiser, Panchetta Dieker, and Verna Jean Dieker who died in infancy; brothers-in-law, Steve Geiser and Edward Schutte; sisters-in-law Gracie Dieker and Ellen Schutte.
The family would like to thank the owners and staff at Bradford Villa for their excellent care of Sandy during her stay.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 20, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Braxton Dieker GoFundMe or St. Francis Catholic Church. Jeff, Steve, Brad, and Doug, we were so very sorry to hear of Sandys passing. You have our deepest sympathy! I don’t know if you boys remember us or not, but in your younger years we were with your family a Great deal. I’m sure the older boys will remember the Fischers. We all had some great times together. It was such an honor to meet Sandy, what an amazing woman, mother, grandmother and sister she was! I loved to listen to her stories about her and Jim’s dancing dates and her sons’ shenanigans! Sandy was one of the sweetest and most thoughtful people I was ever privileged to know – she will be remembered and missed by many.
I’m so sorry to hear of Sandy’s passing. I was fortunate to have her create beautiful window treatments for our home. We fast became friends. She will be missed!
I always enjoyed working at the card parties and other things at St. John’s with Sandy. Doug, our prayers are with you and your family.
