Samuel “Sam” Urton, age 71, of the Sycamore Healthcare Centre, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 7:55 PM in the home. He was born on January 24, 1943 in Elvaston, IL the son of George & Eliza ‘Gail’ (Lovell) Urton. Sam graduated from Hamilton High School in 1961. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 until 1964. He was a member of the Elvaston Presbyterian Church. Sam most recently worked at the Quincy Business and Technology Center until his retirement.

During his recent illness, Sam won the hearts of his caretakers at both Sycamore Healthcare Centre and Blessing Hospital.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and special friends: John & Maxine Elliott.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Sunset Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home on Monday morning from 9:30 until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
