Sam D. Mason

Sam D. Mason, age 62, of Liberty, IL, died on Thursday, November 26, 2015 in Blessing Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on April 10, 1953 in Quincy, a son of Virgil D. & Dorothy I. (Gieker) Mason. He was a graduate of Liberty High School. He married Judy Moody on August 28, 1971. She survives

Sam devoted his life to farming in the Liberty area. He had previously worked at Prairie Farms for many years.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Sam loved to help people. He enjoyed rebuilding and running his equipment. He enjoyed tractor pulls in the 1970’s. He was a man of many talents and looked forward to sharing those talents with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by:
HIS MOTHER, Dorothy Mason
TWO CHILDREN, Paul Mason and his wife Heather and Dawn Moller and her husband Alex, all of Quincy;
GRANDCHILDREN, Aiden Niewohner, Parker D. Mason and Shelby A. Moller along with another Moller child coming in April.
ONE SISTER, Sandy Nickell
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother-in-law, Ralph Nickell.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Xander Cemetery, Liberty, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Grandchildren’s Education Fund.

    Judy…..was so sorry to read about Sam this morning. And I find it so hard to believe how grown up your children are.
