Ruth Marie Hoebing

Ruth Marie Hoebing, age 91, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 in Good Samaritan Home. She was born on September 1, 1931 the daughter of Lawrence and Matilda (Dunker) Terwelp. Ruth married Donald J. Hoebing on June 22, 1957, in the former St. John Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2017.

Ruth had been active as a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in church activities. She also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Ruth was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family.

Ruth is survived by her children: Laura “Lori” Yates and her husband Gary of Quincy; Lisa Hoebing of Chatham, IL; Linda Fox and her husband Rolland of Plainfield, IN; Greg and his wife Cindy Hoebing of O’Fallon, IL and daughter-in-law, Amie Hoebing of Quincy. One sister, Betty Klingele of Quincy.

Grandchildren: Matt (Nancy) Hillebrenner; Kristin (Jeff) Hamby; Dustin Downs (Raegan); Melissa Wix; Jamie Fox; Tony Fox; Kallie Fox; Dannielle (Bill) Thorpe; Jessica (Brody) Allen; Olivia and Nathan Hoebing. Also, Vanessa and Terry Yates; Austin Hamby; Katelyn (Tyler) Allen. Great-grandchildren: Chandler and Logan Hillebrenner, Jaxson and Camryn Wix, and Casey and Leila Downs; Kayden Fox; Elysa Davis, Madelyn, and Owen Yates; Liam and Kai Thorpe. Great- great grandsons, Bennett Hillebrenner and August Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Joe Hoebing, sisters: Virginia (Fabian) Deters, Madeline Terwelp, Sr. Lucy Terwelp, Marilyn (Morris) Kircher, Bob (Margie) Terwelp, Gerri (John) Stark.

A Mass of Christan Burial will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at St. Francis Church Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Joe Hoebing Scholarship Fund at Quincy Notre Dame High School.     Sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Ruthie. I know it has been years since I last saw her and all of you. I have wonderful memories of spending time with all of you when we were young. Praying for you as you mourn your mom’s passing.
