Ruth Marie Altmix

Ruth Marie Altmix age 75, of 928 Christopher Court died on Monday, August 26, 2013 in Sunset Home. Ruth was born March 9, 1938 in Quincy, a daughter of Arthur and Rosina (Schulze) Peters. She married Donald Altmix on July 13, 1957 in Quincy’s St. Mary Catholic Church and they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past July.
Ruth was a beautician with a shop in her home for several years, and she and her husband Don had a screen printing business for over twenty years, retiring in 1997.
She was a 1956 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of Quincy Beauty Academy
Ruth was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church for many years until its closing, and most recently was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Ruth enjoyed going to her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.

In addition to her husband, Don, survivors include her four children, Tim (Rosa) Altmix of Augusta, GA; Steve Altmix of Springfield, IL; Christine (Dan) Miller; Greg (Chris) Altmix all of Quincy; a brother, Jerry Peters of Quincy; grandchildren, Matt (Kate) Altmix; Tiffany Altmix; Brooke Altmix, Adam (Michelle) Miller; Nathan (Ashley) Miller; Evan Miller and Emily Miller; Alex Altmix and Jordan Altmix; and seven great grandchildren survive, along with nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Robert, Russell, Richard and Howard Peters and a sister, Bettie Richmiller.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by the Rev. James Wheeler, O.F.M. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Dominic’s School, St. Francis School or to Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE. www.dukerandhaugh.com
