Ruth M. Bauer

Ruth M. Bauer, age 90, of St. Vincent’s Home, died on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 4:15 p.m. in the home. She was born on September 26, 1926 in Brighton, Iowa, a daughter to Matthew and Agnes (Gelski) Fritz. Ruth married Milton Bauer on July 25, 1953 in St. Joseph Church, East Pleasant Plain, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2002.

Ruth was a teacher, she taught in Iowa schools and at St. Dominic School in Quincy. She also worked for 43 years until her retirement in 2012, in the office of her husband’s business, Milt’s Dental Lab.
Ruth attended the Church of St. Peter. She loved reading, boating and gardening.
Survivors include her sons: Daniel (Dan) Bauer and James (Jim) Bauer and his wife, Margaret all of Quincy; brothers-in-law: Rev. Roy Bauer of Quincy and Leo (Mary) Bauer of Fowler; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Louise Wehr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter, celebrant Rev. Roy Bauer. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the Funeral Mass. Memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter or St. Vincent’s Chapel. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
