Ruth Irene “Ruthie” Bentrop

Ruth Irene “Ruthie” Bentrop, age 80, of 1008 N. 18th Street, died on April 1, 2017 in her home. She was born on January 7, 1937 in Fishhook, IL, the daughter of Grover and Theila (Taylor) Allen. She married Richard Bentrop on October 24, 1959 and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1991.

Ruthie had worked at Quincy Paper Box, Adams and Washington School, the Cassanos Pizza and she took care of her grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

She was a graduate of Quincy High School and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She enjoyed league bowling with her husband and as a family with her sisters and daughter and together they won a State Bowling Championship. She and her husband also belonged to the Horseshoe League at the Knights of Columbus.

She is survived by a daughter: Rebecca “Becky” Mock of Quincy; four grandchildren: Branden Mock (fiancée, Elizabeth Warnser), of Crystal City, MO, Hanna, Megan, (Jose Rana) and Jessica Mock; four great-grandchildren: Blaine, Avery Mock, Paxson Rana, and John Wright; one sister: Mary Bullock of Quincy; one sister-in-law, Sandra (Norm) Funke of Quincy. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings who were twins, Evelyn Schwartz and Everett Allen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by the Rev. Duc Pham, O.F.M. Private inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh.
